Deqing
Overview
In Tibetan language, Deqing, means the Peaceful Paradise. Located at the center of the national-rated scenic spot of the Three-Parallel-River Area, Deqing is the Tibetan autonomous county where people of multiple nationalities and having soem forms of religion live together. It's an important section of the Shangri-la of Diqing.

Meili Snow Mountain
The summit of Meili Snow Mountain is Mt Kawakarpo (also named as Mt. Kagebo). It is located at the junction of the Jinsha River, Lancang River and Nu river (a world heritage site listed by UNESCO).

Trekking to Yubeng village
Yubeng village is located at the foot of Mt Kawakarpo, which has nearly 200 Tibetan families live around. It is really the Shangri-la, the paradise: there is no pollution, automobile, TV, shopping and even the telephone, but only the holy snow mountain under the blue sky with rustic, friendly people. It is the base for us during the days of trekking.
During the next day, 6 hours trekking forth and back towards the snow mountain, through the forest and grassland along the beautiful river up and down. On the way, you will find colourful cloth strips hanging on the trees, which are the prayer flags of Tibetan people. Because of the low temperature in the winter, the waterfall will be icing up.
Mingyong Glacier
Trails to the Mingyong Glacier lead up from Mingyong's central square marked by a new chorten. After 45 minutes a path splits off down to the scruffy toe of the glacier. Continuing on, after another 45 minutes you get to Tibetan style Taizi Temple, where there is a guesthouse.
A farther 30 minutes along the trail is Lianhua (lotus) Temple, which offers fantastic views of the glacier framed by prayer flags and chortens. Horses can be hired (RMB 60) up to the glacier...more
