Overview:Xinjiang has been a multi-ethnic region since ancient times. The 13 ethnic groups that currently inhabit the region are the result of centuries of ethnic fusion, separation and re-fusion.
The Emin Minaret was constructed by local craftsmen using local materials. The structure itself is made of wood and brick.
Gao Chang is located in present-day Xinjiang Province, 30km from Turpan. It played a key role as a transportation hub in western China.
