Overview:

Kaili is a city in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, a significant population of Miao and Gejia live in Kaili. Kaili is host to more than 120 Miao festivals throughout the year.

Kaili Climate

Kaili is located bewteen serveal huge mountains. It is in the subtropical and monsoon zone with four distinctive seasons. Spring is warm and humid, rains frequently, it is the best time to rice planting.

Summer in Kaili can get very hot during June and July. In the fresh early morning, highliy recommend you to take a walk. There are many good walks along the river and into the Miao villages nearby.

What is the best time to visit Kaili
The sisiters' meal festival is held usually at the early April, it differs from year to year, because the local Miao Ethnic people use the lunar calendar. Go to Sidong, a small town to the northeast of Kaili, about 3 hours drive one way, to enjoy the festival.

The Taijiang Dragon Boat Festival takes place in the late May or early June, also depends on the lunar calendar. It is celebrated in many villages along the Qingshuijiang River.

To get good photos on these two big festivals, the team of China Discover needs to prepare thouroughly, the festival takes for days, and our clients' visiting time is limited due to their schedules, lots of phone calls to confirm the exact date for the biggest ceremony, clean places to eat and sleep, parking places, First Aids facilities, crowd control, etc.

Every people who has signed up will always cherish this life-time journey.
