Jiaxiu Tower
The Jiaxiu Tower is a symbol of Guiyang, it is located in the downtown area, near Dananmen, the area of the famous night market and lots of good restaurants.
Standing on a huge Turtle Rock in Nanming River, the Jiaxiu Tower is close to the Avalokitesvara Temple and Cuiwei Pavilion.
In 1598, the 26th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, Governor Jiang Dongzhi of Guizhou Province had an embankment and a tower built, which was named Jiaxiu Tower to encourage local scholars to win success in the imperial examinations.
Inside the Jiaxiu Tower, there is a long antithetical couplet written by Liu Wenliang, born in Guiyang during the Qing Dynasty. Jiaxiu Tower is listed as a provincial key cultural preservation.
How to go to Jiaxiu Tower
The No. 24 bus goes to Jiaxiu Tower, get off at DaNanMen station. Surprised to find out the cute Jiaxiu Tower is hidden in the morden business buildings, the decorations of the stone carings were neat, the wood ceilings, gardens so beautiful.
The nearby DaNanMen area is the oldest district of Guiyang, easily find lots of small restaurants.The NantianMen ChangWangMian noodle soup is very tasty. This shop owned some sort of reward for the best ten restaurants in Guiyang.
