Chongqing Ciqikou Old Town

Chongqing Ciqikou Old Town

Perched on a hill overlooking the Jialing River in the west of the city, Ciqikou Old Town dates back to the late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The main road is lined with teahouses, shops and restaurants; but there is still an air of authenticity about the place, most probably because behind the shop fronts lies a living, breathing "real" village. Several teahouses feature daily performances of traditional Chinese music and art.

It is often said that a visit to China is a cultural experience. This is never truer than when you visit a place such as Ciqikou where you will find the local residents dedicated to their traditional way of life, unaffected by modern influences to be found in the larger towns and cities. Above all, you will find a friendly welcome awaits you as the people of Ciqikou share their special way of life with you.
